Vermont’s Brian Roloff and Colin Vock scored 40 seconds apart late in the first period and the Catamounts never looked back, turning aside Boston College, 4-1, yesterday in a Hockey East game at Gutterson Fieldhouse in Burlington, Vt.

Chris McCarthy added a goal at 15:35 of the second period and Wahsontiio Stacey tallied at 7:39 of the third period to seal it for the 11th-ranked Catamounts (2-1-0, 1-0-0) in their home opener.

Rob Madore made 22 saves for Vermont, allowing only Joe Whitney’s goal 4:36 into the game.

The Catamounts were able to muster only 20 shots on Eagles netminder John Muse, but it was enough to hand the 12th-ranked Eagles a loss in their season opener.
