McNally, Harvard clip Dartmouth

Coming off last week's landmark win over Boston College, Harvard kept its momentum going as it embarked on its Ivy League campaign with a 63-62 victory over Dartmouth last night in Hanover, N.H.

The Crimson (9-6) and Big Green (2-11, 0-1, six straight losses) stayed close throughout, with Oliver McNally giving Harvard a 61-60 lead on a short jumper with 1:03 left. After Alex Barnett answered to put Dartmouth back ahead, McNally delivered another clutch basket for the Crimson, a go-ahead runner in the lane with 12 seconds to play.

Andrew Pusar led Harvard with 19 points. McNally finished with 10.

Saint Joseph's 92, URI 86 - At Philadelphia, Ahmad Nivins had 28 points and a career-high 20 rebounds as the Hawks (7-7, 1-0 Atlantic 10) outlasted the Rams (11-5, 1-0) in triple overtime. URI's Kaheim Seawright scored his 1,000th career point.

Holy Cross 81, Lafayette 67 - The host Crusaders (6-10) never trailed in their Patriot League opener, receiving 17 points from Andrew Keister.

Yale 71, Hartford 63 - Trailing by 9 at the half, the Bulldogs (5-9) rallied past the Hawks (5-11) in New Haven behind 17 points and 10 rebounds from Ross Morin.

UMBC 61, Maine 59 - Mark Socoby had 20 points for the visiting Black Bears (6-10, 1-2 America East) but missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Brown 69, Bryant 56 - Matt Mullery (16 points) and the Bears (6-8) burned the Bulldogs (2-13) with a decisive 12-3 run in the second half in Providence.

Robert Morris 72, Sacred Heart 70 - Jeremy Chappell hit a jumper with two seconds left in overtime to lift the Colonials (10-7, 5-1 Northeast) over the Pioneers (5-10, 3-3) in Fairfield, Conn.

Quinnipiac 65, St. Francis (Pa.) 58 - Bryan Geffen scored 19 of his 24 points in the second half, when the Bobcats (7-8, 3-2 Northeast) came back from a 14-point deficit in Hamden, Conn.

Central Conn. 91, Fairleigh Dickinson 78 - The Blue Devils (7-8, 3-2 Northeast) rode Ken Horton's 29 points to victory in Hackensack, N.J.

Bentley 84, Saint Anselm 57 - The Falcons (12-4, 6-3 Northeast-10) blasted the visiting Hawks (10-3, 6-3) behind a 17-point effort by Brian Tracey.

Merrimack 71, Saint Michael's 58 - The Warriors (11-2, 7-2 NE-10) coasted in Colchester, Vt., as Darin Mency scored 19 points.

Stonehill 86, Le Moyne 77 - Matt Hall's 19 points highlighted a balanced effort by the visiting Skyhawks (12-2, 7-2 NE-10).

UMass-Lowell 71, Pace 64 - The visiting River Hawks (12-3, 7-3 NE-10) won their eighth straight game, getting 25 points from Kyle Caiola.

Saint Rose 76, Southern N.H. 72 - Josh Pelletier and Malcolm Williams each had 13 points for the Golden Knights (6-9, 4-6 NE-10) in Manchester, N.H.

Franklin Pierce 68, Southern Conn. 60 - Coming off the bench, Terrell Ray netted 16 points in a home win for the Ravens (7-6, 4-4 NE-10).

AIC 63, New Haven 48 - Isiah Wallace scored 14 points, and the host Yellow Jackets (9-6, 6-5 NE-10) held the Chargers (6-9, 4-6) to 15 points after the break.

WPI 76, Springfield 55 - Jerome Kirkland had 17 points off the bench for the Engineers (10-3, 2-0 NEWMAC) in New London, Conn.

MIT 69, Babson 56 - Jimmy Bartolotta scored 33 points and Billy Johnson had 26 for the host Engineers (9-4, 2-0 NEWMAC).

Clark 74, Coast Guard 64 - Jack Minister's big day (23 points, 14 rebounds) carried the Cougars (8-5, 2-0 NEWMAC) in Worcester.

Westfield St. 72, Bridgewater St. 65 - Dave Jaehnig's 25 points paced the visiting Owls (8-5) in the teams' MASCAC opener.

Framingham St. 78, Fitchburg St. 72 - Chad Dixon and Darius Yarrell each scored 16 points for the Rams (9-5, 1-0 MASCAC) in Fitchburg.

Worcester St. 88, Mass. College 74 - Maurice Horton racked up 30 points in a home win for the Lancers (7-6, 1-0 MASCAC).

Wheaton 86, Tufts 77 - Jaxon Leo scored all but 2 of his 17 points after the break to propel the Lyons (8-6) past the Jumbos (7-6) in Medford.

Wentworth 73, Gordon 70 - Todd Doyle scored 5 straight points in overtime and finished with 23 to pick up the Leopards (4-9, 1-0 Commonwealth Coast) at home.

WNEC 67, Curry 61 - Kyle Fredette provided 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Bears (3-8, 1-0 Commonwealth Coast) in Milton.

Colby-Sawyer 80, Regis 54 - David Rosso had 19 points for the host Chargers (7-3, 1-0 Commonwealth Coast).

UNew England 94, N.E. College 75 - Jaykyri Simpson (15 points) and the host Nor'easters (10-3, 1-0 Commonwealth Coast) won their ninth straight.

Amherst 65, Williams 60 - Brian Baskauskas's 17 points helped the Lord Jeffs (10-1) prevail in Williamstown.

UMass-Dartmouth 85, Keene St. 73 - The visiting Corsairs moved to 11-1, 3-0 in the Little East, as Brandon Shelton totaled 20 points.

Western Conn. 71, UMass-Boston 50 - Gary Robinson scored the first 12 points for the host Colonials (5-5, 1-2 Little East) and finished with 17.

Emerson 88, Suffolk 81 - Bryan Rouse (21 points) became the 11th player for the Lions (6-3, 3-0 Great Northeast) to reach 1,000 career points.

Elms 77, Becker 62 - The Blazers (11-1, 1-0 NECC) cruised in Leicester behind Javon Mathis's 16 points and 10 rebounds.
