It was a reunion of sorts on Sunday night when the University of Connecticut was in town to face Boston University at Agganis Arena.

In the first-ever meeting between the men’s hockey teams, it pitted BU head coach David Quinn against Mike Cavanaugh, the former long-time associate head coach at Boston College.

Cavanaugh, in his first year as head coach of the Huskies, will be guiding the program into Hockey East next season.

Quinn and Cavanaugh have a long-standing friendship, which dates back to Quinn’s early coaching days at Nebraska-Omaha and Cavanaugh’s at Dartmouth.
