After a tough start to the season, UMass-Lowell is starting to turn it around

Adam Chapie scored with just over eight minutes remaining on an assist from Josh Holmstrom to send the No. 18 River Hawks past fourth-ranked Michigan, 2-1, in a Big Ten/Hockey East challenge game in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Connor Hellebuyck stopped 38 shots to pick up the victory and help UMass-Lowell improved to 3-3-0. Ryan McGrath also scored for the River Hawks.

Evan Allen netted the Wolverines’ only goal, 24 seconds after McGrath gave UMass-Lowell a 1-0 lead.

Zach Nagelvoort made 34 saves for Michigan (4-1-1).
