The Harvard Crimson started off 2014 with a win over Boston University and a tie with Quinnipiac.

But since the tie, it has been tough sledding for the Crimson.

Despite an intense effort, Harvard ran its losing streak to five games after falling, 4-3, against third-ranked Union on Friday night in Schenectady, N.Y.

The Crimson (5-11-3, 2-9-3 ECAC) took a 1-0 lead 4:30 into the first period on a goal by Alexander Kerfoot, but the Dutchmen quickly turned their deficit into a 3-1 lead after two periods.

Brian Hart gave Harvard lift, finding the back of the net at 11:31 of the third period to make it 3-2.

But just 56 seconds later, Matt Hatch answered for Union.

Tyler Moy then scored for Harvard to make it 4-3.
