Road-weary UMass-Lowell nips Penn State, 3-2

Senior Doug Carr made 35 saves as the No. 16 UMass-Lowell men’s hockey team (8-4-0) fought off fatigue and a pesky Penn State (3-5-1) team to escape with a 3-2 win Friday night in State College, Pa.

Playing their third game in four nights, the River Hawks (8-4-0) completed their road trip a perfect 3-0, getting goals from Joe Gambardella, Stephen Buco, and Adam Chapie.

Eric Scheid and David Goodscored for Penn State and Eamon McAdam made 41 saves.

UNH 3, Northeastern 0 — Nick Sorkin, Jeff Silengo, and Kyle Smith each scored as the Wildcats (5-5-1, 3-2-0 Hockey East) held the No. 18 Huskies (6-4-0, 1-3-0) to a season-low 22 shots to win at Matthews Arena.

Casey DeSmith made 22 saves for the win, while Clay Witt stopped 15 shots in defeat.
