Try not to pay attention to records and seedings, focus on the stats: It may be tough to do, especially when you see a team blitz its way through its conference or coast to a top seed. But look at what a team does on the court throughout the year. A team may have a rather dominant season, but they also might have played most of their games against rather paltry competition. And the same goes for teams in tough conferences who were involved in many close games which easily could have gone the other way. Ten years ago, the Indiana Hoosiers made it to the title game with a 20-11 record (they played in a lot of close games, but consistently wound up on the wrong side of things).
