Here's my weekly analysis of the week that was in college basketball.

Five rising:

Alabama: The Tigers have rolled to four straight victories, including the 2K Sports Classic.

Colorado: NOBODY thought the Buffs were going to be good, but they look like a team that will contend in the Pac 12 after winning the eight-team tournament in Charleston, including a victory over Murray State in the final.

Florida State: The Seminoles lost their opener to South Alabama, but looked like a team on the move over the weekend, destroying BYU and then outlasting Saint Joe’s.

Oklahoma State: Sorry to say I didn’t see any of the games in Puerto Rico, but on Twitter everyone was raving about freshman guard Marcus Smart. The Cowboys smashed NC State in the tournament final.

Youngstown State: The Fightin’ Jaworskis are 3-0, including a victory at Georgia.

Five falling:

Boston College: The Eagles will eventually be good, I believe, but returning from Charleston with three losses is really disappointing despite the injury to Ryan Anderson.

UMass: The Minutemen failed to use the emotion of two last-second victories as a springboard and dropped their final two games in Puerto Rico. The loss to NC State is understandable, but I would like to have seen a better result against Tennessee. I’m worried that this is a talented team with pieces that don’t fit together.

Quinnipiac: Does the rest of the country know how monumental a victory over UConn would have been? The Bobcats led by 10 with four minutes left and then lost in double OT. Heartbreaking.

Denver: The Pioneers are 1-2 with disappointing efforts against Iona and Cal. Maybe this is a hockey school.

LIU: The Blackbirds, coming off an NCAA season, are 0-3. Bye bye?

This week’s George Mason (best mid-major): Murray State despite the loss to Colorado in the Charleston Classic final. Looking for alternatives.

This week’s Final Four: Indiana, Louisville, UNLV, Creighton,

This week's national champion: Indiana
