The University of Connecticut has hired former Syracuse football coach Paul Pasqualoni as its football coach, sources have told Globe sports reporter Mark Blaudschun.

Pasqualoni was recently the interim defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys. He was hired because of his familiarity with the Big East. He beat out former UMass coach Mark Whipple for the job.
