Boston College linebacker Luke Kuechly inadvertently committed a recruiting violation when he talked publicly about a pair of prospects the Eagles were recruiting.
In an article posted in Eagle Action, Kuechly talked about a pair of his former high school teammates from St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati, who are coming to BC on a recruiting trip this weekend to watch the Eagles face Clemson.
Kuechly will serve as a host for Sean Duggan and Steve Daniels and told Eagle Action: "My main thing that I'm going to be very honest with them about things.''
The only problem is that NCAA recruiting rules prohibit any public comment by any representative -- coaching staff, player, employee -- of the school in talking about potential recruits until they actually sign.
BC officials consulted with the ACC and will self-report it as a level two (secondary) violation.
The only penalty/action is rules education.
Eagleaction.com took down the story and issued a public apology to BC.
