Business as usual for BC football this afternoon as the Eagles prepared for their meeting with Maryland on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Stadium, but BC coach Frank Spaziani was in a zen-like mood, talking about destiny as much as defense.
Make no mistake, Spaziani is still a "one game at a time'' type of coach, who does not look beyond the next challenge. ""You have to have little steps before you reach the goal and you have to go up the goal ladder,'' said Spaziani. ""You can't worry about winning game seven, until you win game four. That gets you to the next rung. The problem with focusing on big goals is that you don't get to those goals unless you focus on the task at hand. Take care of the little things and the big things will come.''
The task at hand is clear.BC needs to beat Maryland on Saturday to snap a four game losing streak.
Offensive left tackle Anthony Castonzo didn't practice this afternoon because of an academic conflict. Linebacker Mark Herzlich also didn't practice as he recovered from a bruised sternum. Herzlich is listed as probable...Only defensive back Clyde Lee (leg) is doubtful....Castonzo also must deal with other academic issues which will come in the next few weeks as he continues with his process of applying for a Rhodes Scholarship.
BC basketball team is not getting much love in pre-season basketball prognostications. The highly regarded Blue Ribbon projects the Eagles as No 11, ahead of only Wake Forest.
