BC headed to Frozen Four after 9-7 win over Yale

Third period
20:00 - It's over. BC has beaten Yale to win the NCAA Northeast Regional title and advance to the Frozen Four.

18:38 - BC 9, Yale 7 - Pulling the goalie paid off for the Bulldogs. Right wing Broc Little scored to pull the team to within a pair of goals. The 16 goals scored is an NCAA Regional record, surpassing the previous mark of 13.

16:54 - Yale has pulled the goalie for an extra attacker. Bold move by head coach Keith Allain.

15;55 - Boston College 9, Yale 6 - Brian O'Neill scored on a redirect, pulling Yale to within three and causing Eagles' coach Jerry York to call a timeout.

13:32 - Boston College 9, Yale 5 - The Bulldogs scored on the man advantage with Mark Arcobello completing his hat trick.

11:51 - Chris Kreider off for interference. Yale on the power play.

7:16 - Boston College 9, Yale 4 - Hayes has scored again, this time from the top of the left circle.

6:53 - Boston College 8, Yale 4 - Sophomore right wing Jimmy Hayes has scored his first of the game. Freshman defenseman Edwin Shea threw the puck down from the right point. It caromed off the end boards and out to Hayes, who was just outside the right post.

4:16 - Boston College 7, Yale 4 - Cam Atkinson completed his hat trick when he broke in alone on goalie Billy Blase. Jeff Malcolm has replaced Blase in net for the Bulldogs.

3:40 - BC appeared to do some regrouping during the second intermission. The Eagles have tightened up their approach at the start of the period.

Second period

20:00 - BC heads into the second intermission with a 6-4 lead. Yale looked lost with a little over five minutes remaining in the period but the Bulldogs came to life and scored a pair of late goals to climb back into it.

18:27 - Boston College 6, Yale 4 - The Bulldogs scored their second goal in a span of 1 minute, 17 seconds to draw to within two of the Eagles. Denny Kearney potted the goal, giving Yale genuine hope with one more period to go.

17:10 - Boston College 6, Yale 3 - Yale scored during a four-on-four situation to bring the Bulldogs within three. Mark Arcobello scored on a shot from tthe left point.

17:06 - Tommy Cross has been called for a penalty. The teams will skate four on four.

15:58 - Yale's Andrew Miller called for high sticking.

14:46 - Boston College 6, Yale 2 - Joe Whitney has boosted BC's lead to four. Whitney scored on a slapper from high in the left circle, beating goalie Billy Blase.

12:36 - BC penalty - Joe Whitney - contact to the head. Yale penalty - Tom Dignard - slashing.

10:46 - Ryan Rondeau replaced in goal by senior Billy Blase.

10:29 - Boston College 5, Yale 2 - The Eagles have scored again. Cam Atkinson potted his second of the night when he took a centering pass and beat Ryan Rondeau from the slot.

4:57 - Boston College 4, Yale 2 - The Eagles responded just 11 seconds after the Yale power play goal with Cam Atkinson intercepting a clear attempt by Yale and walked in from the right circle, beating goalie Ryan Rondeau to restore BC's two-goal lead.

4:46 - Boston College 3, Yale 2 - During a power play, Andrew Miller centering a pass to Mark Arcobello, who beat John Muse for Yale's second goal.

4:03 - BC called for too many men on the ice.

2:23 - Boston College 3, Yale 1 - Joe Whitney took a centering pass from Pat Mullane and scored on his third try, beating goalie Ryan Rondeau from just outside the right post to give BC a two-goal lead.

First period

20:00 - BC takes a 2-1 lead into the first intermission. The second Eagles' goal, which was scored all the way from the BC zone with Yale on the power play, definitely affected the Bulldogs. We will see if they recover in the second period. BC's Pat Mullane was whistled off for slashing at the 20-minute mark.

18:54 - Yale's Tom Dignard off for tripping. BC back on the power play.

Boston 2, Yale 1 - The Eagles have taken the lead on a shorthanded goal, one of the most unusual you'll ever see. Defenseman Carl Sneep, who was inside his own blue line, chopped at the puck to clear it and it went all the way down the ice, skidded off goalie Ryan Rondeau and into the net at 16:34.

15:59 - BC's Tommy Cross called for hooking penalty. Yale on the power play.

13:32 - Boston College 1, Yale 1 - Brian O'Neill cashed in on a rebound of a shot by Mark Arcobello and pulling the Bulldogs even.

12:16 - The Eagles' power play is over. Yale did a strong job on the penalty kill.

10:16 - Yale's Antoine Laganiere called for contact to the head. BC goes on the power play.

10:12 - Yale is peppering John Muse in the BC end. Muse made three stellar back to back stops.

6:13 - Yale's Jimmy Martin in the box for obstruction/holding the stick.

5:21 - Boston College 1, Yale 0 - The Eagles scored during a four-on-four. Cam Atkinson dished a lead pass to Brian Gibbons, who raced up the left side of the ice and beat goalie Ryan Rondeau from the left circle.

4:44 - BC had some good pressure on Yale during the first minute of the man advantage. But Yale cleared the puck and even got a shorthanded bid by Broc Little when Little tested goalie John Muse with a backhand shot from the slot.

3:44 - Yale's Kevin Limbert called for elbowing, BC heading to the power play for the first time. Very brisk pace by both teams to start the game.
