THOUGHTS FROM MONDAY NIGHT
Worth watching: The Notre Dame-Louisville matchup was a classic. At different points throughout the game, both teams looked like they were ready to take command. Neither was able to do that . . . until the overtime when Notre Dame seemed to collapse from exhaustion as the Cardinals won, 87-73. The Irish scored only one basket in OT. Terrence Williams of Louisville had a great stat line -- 24 points, 16 rebounds, and 8 assists. And he dominated at times, especially while moving toward the basket, though he did make his share of outside shots. Luke Harangody fought valiantly in his unorthodox style but couldn't get the Irish over the hump. Notre Dame had the last possession of regulation and just didn't execute. Louisville was overwhelming in the OT.
Red River rivalry: Oklahoma-Texas is usually all about football but the schools both have outstanding basketball teams, legitimate Final Four contenders. Oklahoma had lost six straight to Texas so the Sooners felt very good about their 78-63 victory.
VMI Report: The Keydets shot poorly (39.4) but still beat Presbyterian, 90-75, for their 10 straight victory.
I've got to watch . . . . . . Lester Hudson of Tennessee-Martin one of these days. He had 38 as the Skyhawks beat Southeast Missouri. He'll be an NBA draft choice.
Onward, Morgan: Morgan State has followed up its victory over Maryland by winning its first three MEAC games.
