Milford’s Jack Murray, Natick’s Brett Flutie carving out new roles on diamond at Rollins

Jack Murray put together three effective seasons out of the bullpen for the Rollins College baseball team. But this spring, as a senior, the Milford High graduate has made a seamless transition to the starting rotation and is leading the Tars in strikeouts.

Teammate Brett Flutie of Natick, who has overcome three serious knee injuries and was a utility player his first two college seasons, starts at second base and leads the Division 2 program in RBIs.

Murray and Flutie, best of friends whose names are synonymous with athletic success in their hometowns, have done exactly what head coach Jon Sjogren, a Millis native, has asked of them.

Rollins will play three games on the campus of Bentley University: April 24 vs. Bridgeport, the 25th vs. Bentley, and the 27th vs. Assumption.
