Jon Meterparel leaves WEEI's 'Dennis and Callahan' show
Meterparel made his final appearance on D&C this morning.
"My childhood dream of becoming a sports radio personality came true when WEEI hired me 12 years ago," Meterparel said during this morning's show. "There was no way of knowing then that the "Dennis and Callahan" show would be the ride of a lifetime. Over a dozen years, we covered some of the greatest stories in Boston sports history. And through them all, I've counted myself as big a fan as all the loyal listeners we've had. But now, it's time for me to move on from WEEI. My goal when I came here was to become an important part of the show and I think I achieved that, but I also want to do more play-by-play. Full-time play-by-play has always been my No. 1 goal and I think it's time to make it happen. I leave with the greatest thanks and respect for everyone at WEEI and Entercom and I truly appreciate their support though the process."
Meterparel confirmed that he would continue to do play-by-play for Boston College football and basketball, and said he would share his other plans soon.
No replacement for Meterparel's position has been announced.
