Canada pizza chain showing Boston no love
The first shot has been fired on Boston in this year's Stanley Cup finals, and it's one Tim Thomas never saw coming.
Boston Pizza, a 45-year old Canadian franchise based in Richmond, B.C., has "changed" its name to, you guessed it, "Vancouver Pizza."
The company's website made the change after the Bruins' 1-0 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday night. A line is drawn through the word "Boston" on the logo and replaced underneath with "Vancouver."
Brad Bissonnette, Boston Pizza's director of regional marketing, told The Vancouver Sun that the idea was hatched last year, when there was a chance the teams could meet in the finals.
"The stars didn't align at the time, so we just kept in the can," Bissonnette told The Sun. "Now, the city is on overdrive and it's really special to be a part of that."
This isn't the first time the Boston Pizza name has been changed: Montreal locations made a name change when the teams met earlier this postseason.
