Just stumbled upon an interesting event in the world of social media. As part of UFC Fight For The Troops 2 this Saturday, January 22, UFC will be airing two preliminary fights exclusively on Facebook for fans who "like" the organizatoon's page. The main event will air on SpikeTV at 9 p.m.
Even if you don't like UFC, the precedent is an interesting one. Would the NBA, for example, air the All-Star 3-point contest exclusively online? Could the NFL put the Pro Bowl on there? In the not-too-distant future it's possible that sporting events much bigger than just two preliminary fights might find a larger audience online than on traditional television.
