With the New York Penn League teams gearing up to kick off their season’s mid-month, baseball is going to be going full-tilt for the next three months. Let’s see what June has to offer in terms of the best promotions across the minor league parks of New England.

Connecticut Tigers
June 23: Matt Shaughnessy Bobblehead – The first installment of the Tigers new “Hometown Heroes” bobblehead series features the Norwich native and current Arizona Cardinals defensive end. Shaughnessy is depicted in his Norwich Free Academy football uniform and quantities are limited to the first 1,000 fans.
Opponent: Tri-City ValleyCats (Houston Astros)

Lowell Spinners
June 20: Super Canaligator Bobblehead – No one does bobbleheads like the Spinners and this will be the first of seven that will have crowds wrapped around the corner waiting for the gates of LeLacheur Park to swing open. Limited to the first 1,000 fans.
Opponent: Tri-City ValleyCats (Houston Astros)
June 30: Coloring Pennant/Jumpin’ Jack Flash/Peanut Free Game – So you say you hate peanuts yet you love Frisbee catching dogs and letting your kids express themselves through coloring? Have we got the promo for you!
Opponent: Vermont Lake Monsters (Oakland A’s)

New Hampshire Fisher Cats
miniOrtiz.jpgJune 12: Mini David Ortiz Bobblehead – There isn’t much that is “mini” about Red Sox slugger David Ortiz, but the Fisher Cats have found a way to shrink the massive star so that you can easily carry him home with you. This is your [expletive] bobblehead!
Opponents: Akron Aeros (Cleveland Indians)
June 16: Baseball Hiveaway/Fathers’ Day Catch on Field – Hands down, there is nothing better than watching a game with your dad on Father’s Day. The Fisher Cats make it even more memorable by providing a baseball (to the first 1,000 kids) so that you and pops can play catch on the field at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
Opponent: Erie SeaWolves (Detroit Tigers)

New Britain Rock Cats
June 13: Dancing with the Stars Pro Val Chmerkovskiy/Ladies Night – I will readily admit that I have no idea who this guy is, nor do I watch the show, but I know it has a pretty damn big audience so this appearance is probably of interest to many. Plus it’s the Rock Cats 1st ever Ladies Night, featuring a wine & cheese tasting pre-game networking event.
Opponent: Altoona Curve (Pittsburgh Pirates)
June 28: Beach Night/Post-Game Pyrotechnics – Pack a towel, button up your best Maui Jim shirt, wipe off your aviators and get ready to take the beach to the ball park. And if the beach and baseball aren’t enough to satisfy, stick around for the post-game pyrotechnics show, sure to dazzle both young and old! (I may have a future calling as a carni)
Opponent: Reading Fightin’ Phils (Philadelphia Phillies)

Pawtucket Red Sox
June 7th: Governors’ Cup Commemorative Bat Night – The first 4,000 fans ages 14 and under will get a bat commemorating the 2012 PawSox Governors’ Cup Championship. Growing up in my house this kind of giveaway was affectionately called “free weapon” night.
Opponent: Charlotte Knights (Chicago White Sox).
June 27th: Armed Forces Night/Camo T-Shirt Giveaway - Long before it became a popular “thing-to-do” the PawSox were honoring our military women and men because they knew it was necessary. Now, for the 34th year, they will pay homage to those who make it possible for us to enjoy the great game of baseball. The first 3,000 fans will land a PawSox camouflage t-shirt.
Opponent: Buffalo Bisons (Toronto Blue Jays)

Portland Sea Dogs
June 12: Dustin Pedroia Bobblehead – There are no hotter giveaways in Peedybhead.jpgNew England than a bobblehead of a current Red Sox star. The big-headed statue of the former Sea Dog and current Red Sox second baseman is sure to be hot commodity, especially with only 1,000 available.
Opponent: Erie SeaWolves (Detroit Tigers)
June 14: Webkinz Giveaway/Flat Screen Friday – If your kids are Webkinz fanatics then make sure you are one of the first 1,000 through the gates of Hadlock Field for this one and since it’s a Friday night game you can have the opportunity to leave with a little something for yourself, a flat screen TV, of which two will be given away.
Opponent: Akron Aeros (Cleveland Indians)

Vermont Lake Monsters
June 20: Opening Night/Magnet Schedule/2-Millionth Fan – Of course Opening Nights are always a blast and I am a sucker for a magnet schedule, but having the chance to be the Lake Monsters' 2-millionth fan is something that will be legendary in the story of your stuff. I would also guess that you will be lavished with praise and prizes galore. But if you aren’t the lucky one then you still get baseball and you will know when the next home game is every time you open the fridge.
Opponent: Connecticut Tigers (Detroit Tigers)

These promos are just the tip of the iceberg of what is being offered by these organizations, so get out there and enjoy the fabulous product that Minor League Baseball presents to all.
