HIGHLIGHTS: PawSox (25-18) bats were held to just 5 hits by an Indians pitching staff that ranks first in the I.L. in wins (31), saves (19), ERA (2.80) and WHIP (1.15). Andrew Bailey threw an inning in relief in what is expected to be his only rehab appearance before joining the Red Sox on Monday. He served up a home run and struck out two. Franklin Morales allowed 2 home runs in his rehab start which lasted 4 innings. Jeremy Hazelbaker stole his team-leading eleventh base of the season which are sixth most in the league.

HR: POR-Spring 2 (5), Thomas (4)
HIGHLIGHTS: The Sea Dogs (24-16) ensured that they would escape the weekend still atop the standings in the E.L. East, putting 2 games between themselves and the BMets with this win. For only the second time in his eight starts Anthony Ranaudo (4IP, 3 H, 3 BB, 2 ER, 5 Ks) allowed more than 1 earned run and it is the first time all year that he did not throw at least 5 innings. Catcher Matt Spring (2-for-5) hit a two-run homer in the fourth and a grand slam in the ninth. Spring has hit all 5 of his home runs this season in the month of May. Xander Bogaerts went 3-for-5 with a stolen base and it now 4-for-4 on steal attempts this year.

WP: Price (1-0)
LP: Walters (0-1)
S: Ogando (1)
HR: SAL-Ramos (2)
HIGHLIGHTS: Three Salem hurlers pitched-in on a 6-hit, 12 strikeout performance with Matt Price picking up his first win at the High-A level. In his 6 innings pitched over his last three relief outings Price has not allowed a run and has yielded only 3 hits while striking out eight. Deven Marrero (2 doubles) and Garin Cecchini both went 2-for-4 at the plate with Marrero’s eighth inning RBI double scoring the eventual game winning run.

Charleston – 10
Greenville – 8
WP: Kukuk (2-5)
LP: Niebla (1-0)
HR: GRE-Johns (1), Betts (7)
HIGHLIGHTS: The Drive rallied in the ninth, but came up short despite a 13-hit effort by the offense. Greenville starter Cody Kukuk lasted only 2/3 of an inning, his shortest outing of the season, after allowing 4 earned runs off of 5 walks and a hit. Infielder Kevin Mager was pressed into action on the mound and fared well, allowing only a walk and a hit in an inning of work. Mookie Betts (2-for-4) RBI, 2 runs) pushed his hitting streak to 13 games and connected on his 7th home run of the season and fourth in his last 8 games. Betts is hitting .373 in May and has raised his average 99 points from .157 at the end of April to .256 after tonight’s game.

New England teams

New Hampshire – 5
New Britain – 0
WP: Nolin (2-0)
LP: Darnell (3-3)
HR: NH-Tolisano (4)
HIGHLIGHTS: The Fisher Cats (21-22) move within a game of .500 for the first time since April 20th. The Rock Cats (20-22) suffered their sixth straight defeat, a season high. Sean Nolin threw 6 scoreless innings for his second win in his third appearance of the season. Tommy Hottovy struck out three in the ninth to shut the door on New Britain. Kevin Pillar (2-for-5, RBI, run) has his third straight multi-hit game and is 6-for-10 in the first two games of this series. John Tolisano (1-for-4, 3 RBI) hit his second home run in four games.
