Collabello.jpgFor the second time this season former Milford High School and Assumption College standout Chris Colabello was named the Player of the Week in the International League.

Currently in the midst of an 11 game hitting streak the first baseman hit safely in all seven games during the period (May 13-19).

He smacked 15 hits, seven of them for extra-bases, including 3 home runs and also drove in 10 runs and scored six times.

Two of those long balls came off of Jake Odorizzi who MLB.com ranked as the second best pitching prospect in the Tampa Bay Rays system.

Colabello leads the Rochester Red Wings in all major offensive categories (for qualifying players) and is tied for first in the league in home runs (11), third in RBIs (34), third in average (.361), second in slugging (.657) and fifth in on-base percentage (.417).

After seven seasons playing Independent Baseball, Colabello had a breakthrough season with the Double-A New Britain Rock Cats last season and played for Team Italy in the World Baseball Classic this year.
