The Dimitri Patterson Crisis is over, but the mystery continues for the New York Jets.
The AWOL Jets cornerback missed Friday's preseason game against the Giants and Sunday's scheduled practice after an off day Saturday.
Patterson, 31, finally surfaced Sunday night after his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said earlier in the day he would report back to the team.
Ryan was scheduled to speak with reporters Sunday but before the call began, Jets GM Jeff Idzik came "dropped the bombshell news" about Patterson's unexcused absence, according to NJ.Com.
Patterson, a journeyman veteran, spoke to Idzik and coach Rex Ryan after returning to the team Sunday night but nothing publicly was said about why he went missing or if he would be disciplined. The Jets are weak at cornerback - surprise, surprise - with Kyle Wilson being their best current option.
In case you've forgotten, the Jets, also known as the AFC East's Island of Misfit Toys, last won a Super Bowl six months before man first walked on the moon back in 1969.
