Big Apple detractors and Patriot bashers in general love to use Spygate to as an excuse to negate the Pats' three Super Bowl rings. To head them talk, especially the Jets, Steelers and their fans, you'd think Bill Belichick and his video-taping assistants were in the grassy knoll and the reason for $4 a gallon gas.

Thanks to Bountygate, Spygate has been relegated to second-tier scandal status. You want asteriks next to those Patriots' Super Bowl victories? In the wake of Bountygate - we decided to give the Saints a new logo in honor of their tainted Super Bowl championship. The not-so-heavenly Saints implemented a wide-spread use of player bounties on injury-causing hits during and after their Super Bowl run. Next time someone brings up Spygate - remind them that no one on the Patriots tried to end Kurt Warner's career in Super Bowl XXXVI.

Head coach Sean Payton knew about it and even refused to stop it reportedly when asked to do by the team owner Tom Benson. These Saints weren't even choirboys. This doesn't undo Spygate. But the Saints have taken Belichick's video camera off the hook when it comes to setting the standard for team-wide malfeasance (we haven't seen that word since Potter's rant in "It's a Wonderful Life" - at the 1:35.05 mark) during a Super Bowl run. The Patriots broke the rules. The Saints broke bones. As Tim P. noted on Facebook: "This is going to make Spygate look like a parking ticket." And probably just a $15 one at that. What do you think the league should do to the Saints? Especially considering the punishment that was handed down against the Patriots for simply taping a practice or two or 547.

Giants-Jersey-OBF-3-2-2012.jpgSpeaking of New York vs. Boston. They nearly have to give away these Giants Super Bowl champion t-shirts at the local fan apparel store near the OBF's lair in Central Florida. The Super Bowl champion Giants t-shirts were on "Clearence" - must be a Jets fan who wrote out that sign - for $10 after being originally priced at $21.99. Of course, I still think they are way overpriced. Thought about buying all 12 of them to use in the fireplace once the temperature dips below 80.
