Playing GM: What should the Celtics do?
Option: Ride it out
The Celtics could choose to keep Rondo, Allen, Pierce, and Garnett and enter the playoffs knowing that their chances aren't great. Garnett and Allen come off the books this summer, and that gives the Celtics a chance to sign free agents, including Dwight Howard (right), who is a pipe dream. Howard may be traded at the deadline as well, and he may choose to ink an extension with the team he goes to. If they keep the team intact, the Celtics will have some $31 million to give to free agents, provided there are any who want to play here.
