Storylines:

End of soft schedule: The Celtics have raced back to .500 with wins over Detroit and Washington, and the final downtrodden team comes tonight in New Jersey. After tonight, the combined records of the Celtics last three opponents is 3-13. That will change when Indiana and Dallas come to town in the next two games.

The Nyets:New Jersey has been in rebuilding mode for a few years but that has been derailed because of injuries. Brook Lopez is out after foot surgery, Deron Williams is out with sore ribs while Kris Humphries will not play with a shoulder injury.

MarShon starts: The Celtics actually drafted Providence high scorer MarShon Brooks but traded him to New Jersey for the pick to draft JaJuan Johnson. Brooks has paid immediate dividends and will start tonight in place of Williams. He is second on the team in scoring with 13.7 points in just 21.5 minutes. Brooks is a professional scorer.

O'Neal expected to play:Jermaine O'Neal participated in shootaround and is expected to play tonight. He missed the previous win over Washington with a tight left hamstring.
