The Celtics follow an impressive performance with a poor effort in losing to the harder-working Cavaliers, who deserved to win because they hustled and got every loose ball.

Fourth quarter, 24.4, Cavaliers 91-86: Paul Pierce misses an open 17-footer and Anderson Varejao is fouled on the rebound. The Celtics look cooked here.

Fourth quarter, 35.6, Cavaliers 89-86: Ray Allen missed a potential tying 3-pointer and J.J. Hickson was just called for a charge, Celtics ball. Officials reviewed the Anthony Parker play and called the 3-pointer good. Doc will be sure to mention that play after the game.

Fourth quarter, 1:33, Cavaliers 89-84: Some controversy here as Anthony Parker managed to catch, dribble, and release a shot in 1 second for a 3-pointer and a 5-point lead. The officials are now reviewing the play.

Fourth quarter, 2:51, Cavaliers 86-84: The Celtics ran off 5 straight points for a 2-point lead but now have allowed two straight hoops by the Cavaliers as they are making silly turnovers. A disappointing effort for Boston considering what it did last night against Miami. Cavs ball.

Fourth quarter, 7:10, Cavaliers 82-79: Daniel Gibson missed his first seven shots but now has hit 4 of 6 and just hit two technical free throws to give Cleveland a lead. It's going down to the wire.

End of third quarter, Celtics 73-68: Cavaliers still hanging around after the Celtics built a 68-57 lead with 3:44 left in the period. J.J. Hickson has 19 points and Ramon Sessions has 12 for Cleveland. The Celtics are shooting 50 percent but have committed 15 turnovers.

Third quarter, 2:37, Celtics 68-62: Rajon Rondo has 8 points in the quarter but the Celtics have been unable to put the pesky Cavaliers away. J.J. Hickson has 19 points.

Third quarter, 9:09, Celtics 55-48: Celtics appear determined to run and Rajon Rondo has scored two straight layups to build a 7-point lead. He leads Boston with 13.

Halftime, Celtics 47-46: A rather unimpressive showing by the road team, which watched its field goal percentage drop from 73 after the first quarter to 53 at halftime. The Celtics shot 7 for 19 in the second period and committed six turnovers. Glen Davis has 8 points off the bench while J.J. Hickson and Ramon Sessions have combined for 26.

Second quarter, 1:43, Cavaliers 46-44: Ramon Sessions has sparked a 21-12 run against some porous Celtics defense. In one sequence he stole the ball and drove coast-to-coast without as much as a hand in his way. Sessions and J.J. Hickson have combined for 26 points.

Second quarter, 5:50, Celtics 32-31: Cavaliers on a 6-0 run sparked by guess who? J.J. Hickson, who has 14 points in 10 minutes on 6-of-8 shooting. The Celtics already have 7 turnovers and several missed layups. They are playing a sloppy game and keeping the Cavaliers close with their mistakes.

Second quarter, 8:16, Celtics 30-25: Boston trying to put some distance between it and the Cavaliers and the defense has been solid so far, holding Cleveland to 36-percent shooting. Rajon Rondo has 9 points for Boston while J.J. Hickson has 10 in less than 8 minutes for the Cavaliers.

End of first quarter, Celtics 23-21: The Celtics are shooting a blazing 71 percent, including a 3-pointer from Rajon Rondo, but their interior defense is poor as J.J. Hickson has 10 for Cleveland, which is shooting 40 percent.

First quarter, 5:26, Cavaliers 14-13: J.J. Hickson already has 10 points as he is slicing the Celtics defense with drives to the basket. Kevin Garnett had 6 straight for Boston while Shaquille O'Neal has 5.

First quarter, 9:30, Cavaliers 6-5: The Celtics are trying to avoid a letdown but they have allowed J.J. Hickson to score Cleveland's first 4 points. It's close to a sellout here and not a LeBron jersey in the house.
