With the Knicks leading 68-57 with 5:10 left in the third period, Celtics coach Doc Rivers put in the first team and the starters ran off a 14-0 run and Boston would never trail again. Kevin Garnett led the Celtics with 20 points in 20 minutes while Paul Pierce added 16 in 24 minutes.

Rajon Rondo played 26 minutes but not many after taking a Wilson Chandler elbow to the cheekbone, which caused a small cut. Glen Davis added 15 points but not before sustaining a bloody nose. The Celtics are relieved to have just one more preseason game -- Wednesday against New Jersey -- before the regular season opener Oct. 26 vs. the Miami Heat.

Shaquille O'Neal scored 6 points with 3 rebounds in 14 minutes. Danilo Gallinari led New York with 20 points, Amar'e Stoudemire did not play and Bill Walker sat out with a sprained right ankle.
