Davis responded to the jabs harshly and loudly with an obscene sexual reference, and his remarks could be heard on television and radio broadcasts.
Zack met with security at the Palace of Auburn Hills, toning down his act after the meeting but also ensuring that Davis would be punished.
Davis' fine comes a day after the league docked Rasheed Wallace $35,000 for comments about the officiating in the Celtics' loss to Dallas Monday. Wallace had already been fined $30,000 this season for criticizing officials after meeting with Toronto in November.
Doc Rivers was also fined $25,000 after being ejected during the Celtics loss last week to Atlanta for arguing a hard foul by Davis on Hawks forward Marvin Williams.
Fine money is split between the NBA and the NBPA, and donated to various charities.
