Phoenix forward Grant Hill has decided to stay put rather than sign in Boston or New York, according to agent Lon Babby. The Celtics could only offer the $1.9 million bi-annual exception. More details to come. Babby said Hill received a two-year deal with Phoenix paying $3 million in the first year with a player option in second year paying $3.24 million.
Babby declined to get into specifics as to why Hill turned down the Celtics and New York during a conference call today. When asked about turning down a possible title run with Boston, Babby said: “I said I’m not going to talk about why he’s not going to go to a place. Obviously, the opportunity to play for a team that recently won a championship and will be in the hunt next year was a strong, very, very strong consideration to go to Boston.”
