AUBURN HILLS, Mich -- The Celtics will have to settle for a split on the road as they lost Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals, 94-75, in front of a sellout crowd at The Palace at Auburn Hills.

Game 5 is Wednesday at TD Banknorth Garden at 8:30 p.m.

Despite the Celtics' inept offense, they remained close until Pistons guard Chauncey Billups hit his only 3-pointer of the game with 2:53 left to give the Pistons an 83-73 lead.

The Celtics shot only 31.8 percent from the field, but hung around by making 32 of 39 free throws.

Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce each scored 16 points, but shot a combined 9 of 30 from the field.

Antonio McDyess led the Pistons with 21 points and 16 rebounds and Richard Hamilton added 20 points as the Pistons shot 51 percent from the field.
