The Bald Five
The Celtics' projected starting five of Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Kendrick Perkins and Rajon Rondo were playing cards Tuesday night when an idea arrived that they all should shave their heads as a sign of unity. Allen and Garnett, both Celtics newcomers, were already shaven bald. So Perkins, Rondo and Pierce agreed to follow suit and came to practice bald-headed Wednesday. Celtics vice president of media services Jeff Twiss nicknamed them "The Bald Five."
"They've been looking at me and KG's dome for a long time and it became a trend," Allen said. "From these last three or four days we've been together we've developed a pretty good bond. And that right there is a sign that we are all on the same page."
The Celtics visited the Vatican museum Wednesday and had a team dinner that night. Several players were disappointed that the late team dinner killed any hope of going to a soccer game between Real Madrid and Lazio in Rome. But, to make up for it the Celtics are expected to go see Arsenal play Sunderland in London on Sunday.
