The blame game: Red Sox collapse
Henry and the ownership team are ultimately responsible for the final product they put on the field. While the Red Sox had the third-highest payroll in baseball, they limped down the stretch without quality starters or a reliable bullpen. Maybe that's on Epstein, Francona, or the players themselves. Or maybe -- as distractions of running soccer and racing teams and of marketing the Red Sox brand piled up -- Sox ownership didn't do their due diligence in selecting the right personnel for the job.
