20 Red Sox offseason predictions
While he's signed through the 2014 season, perhaps now is the time to trade Beckett. He's coming off one of his best seasons statistically (2.89 ERA, 1.03 WHIP), he's just 31, and his apparent negative influence in the clubhouse could be justified away. Plus, given his injury history and apparent lack of conditioning, it's fair to wonder how long he can remain a top-of-the-rotation starter. Ultimately, though, he won't be traded, because the Sox won't be able to find a pitcher of similar accomplishment available in return.
