The two most appealing hitters available in free agency -- and two of the best sluggers in the game, period -- would be a fit on any team. But the Sox acquired their extremely productive first baseman in Adrian Gonzalez last December, and it's unlikely that Pujols is going to move back to third base 10 years after he last played the position regularly. Fielder has said he'd be willing be a designated hitter, but it's unlikely the Red Sox would pay Fielder what he's going to command simply to DH. And he's not exactly an endorsement for the importance of conditioning.
