Red Sox collapses and fantastic finishes

2003: The Red Sox won seven of their last 11 games to take the wild card by two games over the Seattle Mariners, clinching it Sept. 25 with a win over the Orioles. The Mariners swept the Oakland As on the final weekend series, but a 4-0 loss to John Lackey and the Angels prior to that series doomed the Mariners' chances to overtake Boston. As you may recall, the Red Sox went on to lose to the Yankees in seven games in the ALCS when Aaron Boone took Tim Wakefield deep.
