Red Sox general managers through the years
Mike "Pinky" Higgins
Pinky Higgins served as manager of the Red Sox in the late 1950s, overseeing several of Ted Williams's greatest seasons. But as a general manager, Higgins has the distinction of serving as general manger during the only 100-loss season for the Yawkey ownership. While the major league team struggle, the farm system was acquiring players that would contribute to the team's turnaround after Higgins's tenure.
In the photo to the left, Higgins shook hands with comedian Bob Hope in the Red Sox clubhouse.
