"David's ball, that was a bomb," said Red Sox righthander Curt Schilling, who didn't play int he 2004 game because of a bruised right ankle. "That ball was crushed. It was special. I'm so happy for him."
This season: Many thought Ortiz's best days were behind him when he started slowly, but after an April slump, Ortiz has been one of the game's most feared hitters. He was the AL player of the month in May, and has upped his batting average to .259 with 17 homers and 54 RBIs.
I really appreciate that the players think Im a guy who plays the game the way its supposed to be, Ortiz said. I think when you get voted by the players, it means everybody agrees with what youre doing.
