During his rookie season in 1982, Ripken
started 91 games at shortstop and 68 at third base. For the next 13 seasons, the Iron Man played every game
during each of those seasons at shortstop. In 1996, Ripken again started splitting time between third and short, before shifting to third for good in '97. Overall, he played 2,632 straight games at the two positions, spanning May 30, 1982-Sept. 20, 1998.
