Catching up with old friends
Edgar RenteriaSS/3B, free agent
After several productive seasons in St. Louis, Renteria had a subpar year with the Red Sox in 2005 -- particularly defensively -- then regained his form once he was dealt to the Braves following the season (with the Sox picking up much of the tab). He will forever have a place in the hearts of Giants fans after discovering the fountain of youth in the World Series, as he took home the World Series MVP after carrying the Giants in the series over Texas. He played for the Reds in 2011 and hit .251 in 96 games. After receiving multiple minor league offers to play in 2012, he turned them down.
