Game 135 Lineups and Notes: Bogaerts Back as Webster Starts for Sox

In the fourth game of their 10-game road trip, the Red Sox scored eight runs over the first two innings on Friday and rolled to an 8-4 win over the Rays. Now at the halfway point of the trip, they’ll need the offense to keep it up if they want to secure four wins in their last five games. Allen Webster gets the ball for the Sox, while Jake Odorizzi will start for the Rays. Here’s a look at the lineups for tonight’s matchup at the Trop.

Notes: Last night Mookie Betts went 2-for-5 with his 1st career grand slam...At 21 years old, he is the youngest Red Sox to hit a slam since Tony Conigliaro did it at 20 years old on 8/24/65 against Washington (G1)…In the last 61 years from 1953-2014, Betts and Tony C. are the only Red Sox to hit grand slams at age 31 or younger...Conigliaro hit 3 grand slams before turning 21, with 1 at age 19 in 1964, and 2 at age 20 in 1965..Last night the Red Sox sent 9 batters to the plate in both the 1st and 2nd innings, scoring 8 total runs between those frames...According to Elias, it was the 1st time the Red Sox batted around in consecutive innings to begin a game since 8/14/62 at LAA, a 9-5 win in the 2nd game of a doubleheader…Yesterday Carlos Rivero became the 50th player to appear in a game for the Red Sox this season...That’s 2 more than the club’s entire 2013 total (48).
