Game 99: Red Sox, Blue Jays Lineups and Notes

The Red Sox open a four-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays Monday night with John Lackey taking the hill.

Tonight’s game is the start of a seven-game road trip, ending with a three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Shane Victorino, after returning from the DL on Saturday, will take his first scheduled day off to ease him back into the mix.

Notes: The Red Sox have won seven of their last eight games. They’re still six games away from .500 and the second American League Wild Card spot. And they’re 7.5 games away from AL East leading Baltimore. .. Lackey is making his 20th start of the season and 10th on the road. He got his 10th win of the season in his last start on July 11, going 6.0 innings while allowing four hits and two runs against the Houston Astros. .. This is the first time Lackey is facing Toronto this year and the second time in the past two seasons. He gave up two runs and five hits while fanning eight in 4.1 innings the last time he pitched at Rogers Centre, April 6, 2013.
