Watch: Craig Gentry's Sensational Catch Robs Brock Holt, Gets A's Out of Jam

After a poor throw from Nick Punto turned a potentially inning-ending double play into a bases-loaded jam for the A’s, Jackie Bradley Jr. made Oakland pay with a two-run single to center to cut the A’s lead to one.

It looked like Brock Holt was going to add to that damage off the bat when he laced a bullet to right center that could easily score Stephen Drew from second and tie the game.

Craig Gentry had other plans, and a phenomenal play by the Oakland centerfielder kept the Sox from plating their third run of the inning.

On a ball that was quickly sinking, Gentry galloped over and made a sprawling catch to take a hit away from Holt. Gentry then got up and easily doubled off Stephen Drew, who was running on contact and had already rounded third, to end the inning.

After a strong first frame, A’s starter Brad Mills as struggling in the second and the Oakland infield didn’t do him any favors with their botched double play that gave the Sox life, but Gentry made sure that the Red Sox weren’t going to get any closer in the top of the second.
