The Red Sox are a mess on the field right now, and now the Yankees are starting to have issues via the injury bug.
Big lefty CC Sabathia will be out until at least July, Yankees GM Brian Cashman told the New York Post.
ďIt will be no sooner than six weeks from now,Ē Cashman said in discussing a potential return date for Sabathia.
Dr. James Andrews performed a stem cell treatment injection in Sabathia's inflamed right knee late last week. Cashman told The Post the Yankees were informed that if the process works, it would be a minimum of six weeks, which means the Yankees would be without the lefty until July.
The Yankees rotation has been coming apart at the seams in the early going. Ivan Nova is gone for the 2014 season following Tommy John surgery. Pine-tarred righty Michael Pineda (lat) is starting to throw bullpen sessions and isn't expected to return until June if all goes well.
At this moment, the Bombers rotation consists of Masahiro Tanaka, Hiroki Kuroda, David Phelps, Vidal Nuno, and Chase Whitley.
While the Red Sox rotation has been hit hard of late, at least no one from the starting five has landed on the DL yet.
