FORT MYERS, Fla — It was not exactly clear sailing for Clay Buchholz.
The Red Sox third starter allowed two homers and four earned runs over six innings against Triple-A Tampa Bay hitters at Fenway South. Veteran Reid Brignac was one of the players who took him deep for a two-run homer.
"First inning felt good like it was going to feel good all day and then I had a couple of long innings after that," Buchholz said. "But overall I felt really good about it."
Asked about the non-major league environment being a factor as far as adrenalin, he said "You have to get over it and realize you're out there trying to work on things to make you better. I felt I did that the last two innings I was out there. I think there were seven guys that came up in that last inning," Buchholz said.
Asked if there was anything else he needed to do in camp, he said, "Just getting ready for the season."
