After a long break (25 hours so so), the teams meet again. Here are the lineups:

State of the Sox: They start the day six games out in the division and 4.5 out in the wild card. They have won eight of their last 12 games.

State of the 'Stripes: The Yankees are 1.5 games up on the Rays despite losing five of their last eight.

State of the rivalry: The Yankees lead the series 6-4 this season, outscoring the Sox 57-40. The Yankees have won 15 of the last 20 games between the teams.

Bronx bummer: The Sox are 4-9 at the new Yankee Stadium.

Cano get him out: Robinson Cano is 16 of 40 (.400) against the Sox this season with five extra-base hits, three walks and nine RBIs.

Burn, baby Burn: A.J. Burnett was 5-0 with a 2.56 ERA in eight starts against the Sox when he was a member of the Toronto Blue Jays. As a Yankee, he is 0-3, 9.40 in six starts against the Sox.

In two starts against the Sox this season, he has allowed 16 hits and 11 earned runs over 9.1 innings.

A tale of two seasons: Josh Beckett was 0-1, 10.61 in eight starts before he went on the disabled list with what the Red Sox said was a bad back. He allowed 57 hits and 19 walks in 45.2 innings.

In his three starts since coming off the DL, Beckett is 2-0, 2.18 and has allowed 13 hits and four walks over 20.2 innings.

Beckett has faced the Yankees twice this season, giving up 17 earned runs on 22 hits and nine walks over 14.2 innings.
