Josh Reddick is in the lineup playing centerfield and Kevin Youkilis is at third base while the team optioned right handed reliever Scott Atchison to Pawtucket to make room for Reddick. The young outfielder's stay might be brief with Boof Bonser scheduled to come off his rehab assignment Monday.

"Scotty, unfortuantely has been that guy (up and down) because he has options. I think he understands., It's frustrating but I think he knows we like him as a pitcher and sometimes guys get on that shuttle. we were in a potential bind and we were because we need a healthy outfielder.," Francona said.

Hermida went to the local hospital to have a CT scan on his sore ribs after complaining of soreness in his chest/side. Preliminary word is he's OK and may even be available tonight after injuring himself in a collision with Adrian Beltre last night. Beltre is also out,a forced day off by Francona as Beltre nurses a sore knee and groin. Beltre and Hermida collided in left field in a scene similar to the one that cost Jacoby Ellsbury two months of playing of time with fractured ribs.

"We sent him (Hermida) to have a CT scan just to rule things out. He told me 'hey I can play but I want to make sure everything's OK.' So we sent him over. We're getting it read by the radilologist. It looks like he's OK. He's just sore," Francona said.

Beltre said he didn't want to sit out and spent two minutes trying to talk bench coach Demarlo Hale, who delivered the news, out of the decision.

"I don't like days off," Beltre, who feels it hurts his rhythm.

"We forced him to take a day off," Francona said. "He doesn't want to take a day off any day. He told us today I'm not getting worse, I'm getting better. His knee is sore, his ankle is sore, his groin is sore, but giving him a night over the course of a long year, would be really good," Francona said.

Concerning the reason to move Youkilis to third, Franconona said, "Two things, it gives us more lefthanded bats in the the lineup. We can put Victor in there (first base) and have Tek catch." Youkilis may also be playing some third in interleague play coming up next week.

Francona said that while Reddick has been struggling at the plate in Pawtucket (.188) the reports are he's starting to come around. Francona hopes he comes around in the majors. Francona said it was porobably too early to go get prospect Ryan Kalish who was recently recalled to Triple-A.

Mike Cameron, who is slowly coming back from his lower abdomen soreness, was taking batting practice today. Could be back in there by the Cleveland series which starts Monday.
