The Mike Lowell situation is the big story of the day here so far. But there was a little news on Mike Cameron.

Terry Francona said the outfielder would play for Class AA Portland on Wednesday.

"Cam probably needs to play, when I say two or three more games, we'll see," Francona said. "That's what we thought the other day. ... When we get him back we want him to be OK."

Francona said Cameron's body "was tender" beyond his abdominal strain. "I don't think he was quite ready to come back," the manager said. "We thought there was a chance (to be activated) yesterday or today but we reserved the right to change it and that's why we say that."
