Daisuke Matsuzaka arrived in Fort Myers two days ago and looks terrific according to people here who have seen him.
We're hoping to get a look at Matsuzaka today. He arrived at the Player Development Complex today in an SUV that zipped around the back. There's a chance he might throw off a mound later this morning.
Jon Lester and Daniel Bard threw off the mound yesterday. They are among the handful of big leaguers already here. Terry Francona is here as well.
Talked to Latin American coordinator Eddie Romero, who reported that Jose Iglesias is among the early arrivals and has been working out for about a week now. The Sox are anxious to get a good look at their shortstop of the future.
Check back later for another report. It's 65 here but windy. Sunny, though.
UPDATE, 11:33 a.m.: No Dice-K throwing session today, it seems. But Theo Epstein stopped to chat on his way out and said that Matsuzaka looked good and has lost weight. "He worked hard this winter, that's evident," the GM said.
The front office and coaches have meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday to go over the roster. The next informal set of workouts will be Monday. Pretty much everybody has tomorrow off.
So there you have it, the latest from Fort Myers.
