Red Sox second-round pick Alex Wilson, a junior righthander out of Texas A&M, flew into Boston “a couple hours ago” and “he is signing right now,” his mother Ann Wilson said in phone conversation from the family’s home in Hurricane, W.V, a few minutes ago.

The Red Sox took Wilson, the No. 52 ranked prospect in this year’s draft according to Baseball America, with the 77th overall pick. Wilson went 6-6 with a 4.22 ERA as both a starter and a reliever this season, his first after recovering from Tommy John surgery.

“It’s his dream team,” Ann Wilson said. “He’s always been a Boston fan.”
