NEW YORK - Jed Lowrie has come on to play third base for Kevin Youkilis in the bottom of the eighth which means the ball that Youkilis fouled off his foot in the 6th inning must be really stinging.

The Sox trail 11-9 as finally the game has settled down a bit. LaTroy Hawkins actually pitched well - a couple of shut out innings - to hold things in New York's favor. Dave Aardsma also threw two scoreless innings for Boston.

Brian Bruney got out of the eighth unharmed.

Looks like Mariano Rivera is warming up for the ninth inning.
