* The win for Jon Lester was the first by a Red Sox lefty starter in Oakland since Zane Smith beat Dave Stewart 9-6 on May 29, 1995.

* David Ortiz broke an 0-for-12 start to the season with a single and homer.

* J.D. Drew played for the first time this season, after missing six games with sore back.
